EU allots 15 bln euros since 2014 to support Ukraine reforms - Juncker

KYIV - European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has positively assessed the level of EU-Ukraine cooperation.

The EU and other financial institutions have assigned over 15 billion euros to support Ukraine reforms since 2014, Juncker said at a briefing in Kyiv, following the EU-Ukraine summit.

Liberalized visa system has boosted humanitarian contacts between the EU and Ukraine, Juncker said, adding that the EU had seen over 3 million Ukrainian arrivals since June 1, 2017.

The EU would like to enhance Ukraine's involvement in its university program Erasmus+, Juncker said. Over 7,000 Ukrainian students have enrolled for the program, he said.

EU-Ukraine trade has soared thanks to the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, Juncker said.

He added he was hopeful for a major crackdown on corruption in collaboration with the new Ukrainian president.
