Lithuania posts EU's largest increase in new car sales - ACEA

VILNIUS - New car sales in Lithuania grew at the fastest rate in the European Union last year, the latest figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) show.

New passenger car registrations in Lithuania jumped 25.4 percent last year, compared to 2017, from 25,900 to 32,400 units.

Latvia posted a 1.1 percent annual increase to 16,900 and Estonia recorded a 3.6 percent rise to 25,400 units.

In December, compared to the same month in 2017, new care registration rose 24.8 percent to 2,455 in Lithuania, dropped 17.6 percent to 1,071 in Latvia and went down 23.9 percent to 1,113 in Estonia.

Across the EU, car sales edged up 0.1 percent to 15.159 million, and decreased 8.4 percent to 998,500 in December alone.
