Average family affords apartment of up to 72.4 square meters in Vilnius – Swedbank

VILNIUS – A family on average income afforded buying an apartment of up to 72.4 square meters for an average price in Vilnius this year, compared to up to 101.6 square meters in Riga and up to 86 square meters in Tallinn, according to Swedbank's latest housing affordability index.

The largest increase in the area of affordable housing was registered in Tallinn where an average family afforded buying 2.4 square meters more in the second quarter, from the first quarter. The area grew 1.6 square meters in Riga and dropped 0.8 square meters in Vilnius.

In Kaunas, Lithuania's second-largest city, an average family could afford buying an apartment of up to 107 square meters, and up to 106 square meters in the western port of Klaipeda, the Swedbank figures show.
