RIGA – In total 16 tickets of parties and political blocs have been submitted to the Central Election Commission (CVK) for the upcoming Saeima elections, according to information published on the internet website of CVK.
At present there are 1,470 candidates per 100 seats at the Saeima
The majority or 68.3 percent of candidates are men – their average age is 46.6 years with the youngest candidate being 21 and the oldest – 88 years old.
Almost two thirds or 66.5 percent of the candidates are Latvians, while 27 percent have not revealed their nationality.
Slightly more than third or 37.2 percent of candidates live in Riga, while ten candidates do not live in Latvia.
CVK will still has to make decision on registration of several parties, and candidates’ compliance with the requirements.
The Saeima elections will be held in early October.
