Lithuania rises to 32nd place in global competitiveness rating

VILNIUS – Lithuania has inched up one notch in the global competitiveness rating, ranking 32nd among 63 countries, according to the latest IMD World Competitiveness Rankings.

Lithuania scored well in terms of international trade (7th), prices (14th) and management practices (19th) and received the worst results in the areas of international investment and employment (both 50th) and finance (48th).

In the wider category of infrastructure Lithuania ranked 29th this year (30th last year), and was 30th in terms of business efficiency (33rd), government efficiency (31st and 34th respectively) and 36th in terms of economic performance (42nd).

Latvia has retained the 40th position over a year, and Estonia dropped one notch to 31st position.

The top five most competitive countries remained unchanged but changed positions, with the United States securing the top spot, followed by Hong Kong, Singapore, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
